Common use
Cardura selectively and competitively blocks postsynaptic alpha-1-adrenergic receptors on smooth muscle surrounding blood vessels and in the prostate and bladder; this causes blood vessels to relax and let blood flow easier. Thus it has hypotension effect. The drug is used for treatment of arterial hypertension and congestive heart failure. Dosage and directions Dosage depends on your condition and should be administered by your doctor, for hypertension it varies between 1-16 mg daily and for benign prostatic hyperplasia is does between 1-8 mg daily.

Precautions
Take each dose with a full glass of water. Do not change size of your dose or take the mediation longer than your doctor prescribed. First intake of the drug may cause dizziness so better be careful when you stand or sit up from a lying position. Monitoring of your blood pressure or prostate should be done on a regular basis.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, breast-feeding, liver failure, mitral or aortic stenosis, infancy.

Possible side effect
Immediately contact your doctor or look for medical attention in case you have the following symptoms: fast or pounding heartbeats, feeling light-headed, fainting, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet, penis erection longer than 4 hours.

Drug interaction
Be attentive taking concurrently Levitra or Cialis with Cardura as their additive action many cause excessive blood pressure reduction.

Missed dose
If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember, but not if it is almost time of the next intake by your schedule. If this happened just skip the dose you forgot. Do not try to compensate a missed dose by taking an extra one. If you missed taking the drug during several days consult your doctor first to recommence your treatment.

Overdose
In case of drowsiness, fainting, or seizure (convulsions) caused by overdose of Cardura look for immediate medical help.

Storage
Store Cardura at room temperature, 15-30 C (59-86 F).
